Advanced lighting LEDs double light output from smaller footprints

Distributor RS Components has added three series of second-generation LEDs from Cree that offer higher performance with greater efficiency and longer service life. The LEDs are configured for a range of lighting applications including spot, street, parking area, and both low- and high-bay lighting. Cree’s SC5 technology enables doubling of light output from smaller device packages.

The CXA2 family of COB (chip-on-board) LEDs are multiple-die integrated arrays that deliver a high lumen output. Offering extended lifetimes of up to 60,000 hours, these LEDs deliver up to 33% higher efficiency and have the same range of packages as the previous generation of CXA devices, allowing a simple drop-in upgrade. The new range is based on the company’s SC5 Technology platform, which enables the CXA2 LEDs to offer the same output from a smaller light emitting surface (LES) making the CXA2 COB LEDs suitable for applications including GU10s, downlights, outdoor lighting and high-bay lighting.

The XLamp XHP50.2 series of extreme high-power white LEDs claims the highest lumen efficiency in their class. Also using Cree’s SC5 Technology platform, the second generation of XHP50 LEDs offers increased lumen output and lumens per Watt, while maintaining the same compact 5 x 5 mm package at the original XHP50 LEDs.

The Xlamp XHP35 series of LEDs offers high-power LED performance in the 3.5 mm XP footprint, a package with dimensions of 3.45 x 3.45 mm. Available in high-density or high-intensity options, the XLamp XHP35 series is intended to enable new low-cost designs.
